Academic unfreedom – The EU should steer clear of universities
In this piece, our Head of Policy, Jacob Reynolds, takes to task a recent EU Parliament report into academic freedom. As he writes, the report ignores the genuine and serious challenges to academic freedom that are distinctive of the conemporary world. If we want to protect academic freedom, we have to encourage academics to take free expression seriously and treat education and research as ends in themselves.
