The Nonument Group's project “From Nowhere to Noplace” project, combines different theoretical insights on "the displacement, abandonment and destruction of monuments and architecture". It demarcates an artistic discourse "that inherently links aesthetics to politics. [...] Nonuments are objects (here: architecture) that make visible something that was intended to be forgotten. Objects that are demolished “under digital neofeudalism, democratic pretences and cultural facades” […] “Brutalism (architectural style preferring bare structural elements over decorative design) is one of the most beloved folk devils of right-wing opinion, presented as foreign and intellectual/elitist […]”. The project thus explores architecture as a means of expressing political visions and counter-visions. It critiques the alleged right-wing hostility to brutalist architecture and its revolutionary aesthetic and political message.
A contrasting example, where the correct operational discourse is being used to conceal the genuine scientific content of the research and raise its chances for funding, is the 'Mystery Cult of Mithras' project. This archaeological project explores a religious cult that was a major competitor to Christianity in the Roman Empire. This project description also includes politically correct terms such as "mobility and intercultural dialogue, religious behaviour as an articulation of global and local identities, migration in ancient Europe". However, these slogans seem to be just slogans to enhance the project's evaluation, while the final result of the project (three historical exhibitions) is a high level scientific achievement.
