Join MCC Brussels to digest the results of one of the most contentious elections in US history.
This year’s election has seen both unparalleled levels of hysteria – Trump has been labelled a historic threat to democracy and Harris accused of wanting to bring communism to America. Yet the reality is that the media narratives have obscured serious issues facing the country.
The Biden-Harris administration have passed near-record levels of spending bills, yet most Americans feel the economy is still out-of-control. Trump has dodged multiple assassination attempts, reflecting what many call uncontrolled polarisation. With wars raging in the middle-East and Eastern Europe, the question of globalism vs America-first needs serious attention. And social issues, from abortion rights to immigration, continue to dominate voter concerns.
In what is forecast to be a uniquely close race, which issues will be decisive? With militant rhetoric on both sides, what happens if the election result is contested? Is the very social fabric of America fraying, or can the winning candidate arrest talk of US decline and unite the country? And what does the election mean for Europe, and the world?
Join us at this MCC Brussels event where all opinions are welcome, and delve into the election outcomes, voter behavior, and the overall implications with an expert panel.
